Hi, I'm fairly new to chickens and have a small flock of laying hens, 4 RIR, 1 white leghorn, 1 Plymouth barred rock and 4 easter eggers. I've got a RIR rooster and my 5th easter egger hen turned out to be a rooster! Today I added 27 pullet chicks to my family that consist of 11 buff orpingtons, 11 Plymouth barred rocks and 5 silver laced wyandottes. I also have 3 Pekin ducks, 1 Cayuga duck and 2 Toulouse geese--all female. I really enjoy the birds and would like nothing more than to eventually get into breeding my own.

Welcome to all the new members! I see that you all fit in real well here with the birds you raise. Let us know when you add new birds to your flocks. Also if anyone has a picture of one of their birds they are proud of let me know by way of PM and I'll put it on the front page of the site for a couple of weeks.

I have a few button quail right now also. Bought them on the spur of the moment... just something to do I guess. Now I'm thinking chickens though... I think. LOL! Like some of the others on here, I'm just sort of tinkering, I want to build an incubator just for the heck of it. I have a commercial refrigerator that will convert easily enough but now I'm thinking it might be serious overkill for what I want... I'm supposing it would handle upwards of 1000 chicken eggs. Maybe I'll just build from scratch and later go big if I need or want.

We raise greys, albanys, brunner roundheads, hatch, whitehackle. Have some doms but we're not gonna pursue those. Still fooling around with the excaliburs.
