What kind of comb should they have? I have one pair that have no comb Lu has another with a pea comb. The all black male has red saddle that one has the pea comb while the brown male with reds saddle has no comb like the the wheaten blue female. I asked Lu and he said when he was growing up they had both is this right? Are all the combs but standard point comb excepted as Asian ? Or does that change into breed types? PattiAnn

My Thai birds have a pea comb, Saipans usualy have a cusion comb. This is all realy irrelivent though because there may be other types of combs not recognized by American standards that may exsist in fowl from another country. I know this don't help much Mark

Should Lu and I be working on a standard? These birds are from his clan so they could have one or the other to breed for. I am just playing with the birds not any real hard breed program. Lu doesn't think they need to have any type at all. He has told me most of the birds in Laos are mixed only here do we need to have them all the same. I will tell him about your barred birds and see if he saw any there. I bet he will want some!PattiAnn

Should Lu and I be working on a standard? Only if you want to. I'm not working toward any real standard with my Thais, just trying to keep them true to the way they come from Thailand. (which is sort of a standard) My Crele phoenix on the other hand I'm trying to breed to the phoenix standard in reguards to body confirmation , ear color, ect. However I am breaking from the standard somewhat as I'm trying to breed the longest saddles and tails possible without reguard to the standards. Mark
