Hi,
Im going to be starting incubation next month (well 28 days) with some of our poultry which we haven't done before and i wanted to know, can you tell whether their going to be a good specimin of the parents or whether their good for show when their chicks or do you have to wait until their a little older? Because im having first pick out of the chicks and im hoping for a good show Cockerel (breed is Friesian).
Any advice would be greatful ;D,
Thanks.

If you have experience raising the breed you may be able to pic the better specimines from the culls. However it has been my experience that as the birds grow and change some you thought would make good show birds leave something to be desired and some you thought were not up to par develope into great show birds.

what I do is I hatch out a batch of 50 or so raise them up for about 3 months, then pick the most promisng 2 trios and sell the rest thats what i do for all my breeds and it works great
