I was on another board and I thought this was realy funny. One of the members there was arguing with several ppl saying that "if its not in the standard it is not a breed". They didn't specify which standard so I'm assuming they meant the US Standard of Perfection. I just couldn't stop laughing at this, I couldn't even reply I was laughing so hard. Does this sound rediculous to anyone else? KB PS I do believe that there are some breeders out there making crosses and calling them breeds when they are just crosses that don't breed true. However there are breeds all over the world that are not in any standard of any kind.

You are right--no clarification of what or whose standard--people always use that argument-- "if it is not in the standard it is not a breed" Just because it isn`t in the particular standard that person is talking about--doesn`t mean it doesn`t meet some other standards--People are a piece of work.

well..seeing how "the standard" was created by a bunch of poultry judges to begin with...who are they to judge.

Yep, it was. Some of the discussions on line are like reading a script for a comedy club. KB
